The Kemptville Youth Musical Theatre Company presents Something Rotten at the Urbandale Arts Centre.
Something Rotten! is set in the 1590s, where brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom are desperate to write a hit play but are stuck in the shadow of that Renaissance rock star known as Shakespeare. When a local soothsayer foretells that the future of theatre involves singing, dancing and acting at the same time, Nick and Nigel set out to write the world’s very first musical. But amidst the scandalous excitement of opening night, the Bottom Brothers realize that reaching the top means being true to thine own self.
Something Rotten features large song and dance numbers, and a wacky cast of over-the-top characters, each with their own moment to shine. Throughout its Broadway run, the musical received show-stopping standing ovations from audiences and 10 Tony nominations!
The Kemptville Youth Musical Theatre Company (KYMTC) is a not-for-profit, volunteer-based, musical theatre group. Youth from grade 7 to age 19 are welcome to audition for, and participate in, our musical theatre productions, staged at the Urbandale Arts Centre in the North Grenville Municipal Centre. We usually perform our Main Show in the spring. We also offer a Summer Camp program for children in Grades 2-8, staging a show at the end of the 4 week program.
