Tickets
A ticket must be purchased for anyone who will be occupying a seat during the performance. Small children who will be sharing a seat with their parent/guardian do not require a ticket.

Tickets can either be purchased:

  • Online, via Yapsody
  • In person at Brewed Awakenings located at 2868 County Rd 43, Kemptville, ON (note: ticket availability at Brewed Awakenings is limited)
  • At the Urbandale Arts Centre box office immediately before the show (note: if tickets are still available, sales begin about an hour before show time)

It is highly recommended that tickets be purchased in advance. There is no guarantee that seats will be available for “walk-up” patrons. Visit the Ticket section on the website for more information.

Summer Camp Shows
Admission is free. Tickets will be available at the door. Kemptville Youth Musical Theatre Company (KYMTC) may hand out numbered tickets to patrons as they arrive- to ensure that the maximum capacity of the theatre is not exceeded. It is recommended that patrons arrive at least 45 minutes before the show starts to ensure that they will get a ticket. Our summer shows are very popular and have played to capacity crowds. There is no guarantee that tickets will be available.

Patrons who wish to financially support the summer camps can make a cash donation, at the door, to the KYMTC.

Lining Up/Seating
Seating is “general admission” and there are no assigned seats. KYMTC reserves the right to designate seats for those patrons who have mobility issues or who require accommodation.

Ticket holders can line-up in the Urbandale Arts Centre foyer when they arrive for a show. Line-ups normally start about 60-75 minutes before the show time. There are chairs available for patrons who cannot stand and who require accommodation.

Patrons Who Require Advanced Seating
Patrons who are in wheelchairs, using a walker, have mobility issues, or who require accommodation for other reasons, should contact KYMTC in advance in order to plan seating ahead of time. KYMTC will provide advanced seating for patrons who require accommodation.

Refunds
There are no refunds on tickets. Tickets may be exchanged for tickets for another performance up to 24 hours before the scheduled performance- subject to ticket availability.

Given the number of sold out shows, we want to avoid empty seats and ensure that we have a full house. If your plans change and you are unable to exchange your tickets, please consider donating your tickets back to KYMTC and we will provide them to a needy family or individual.

Theatre Etiquette Policy

Cameras
Flash photography in the theatre is prohibited at all times. If you are going to take non-flash pictures during the show, please be respectful of the other patrons and avoid interfering with their ability to enjoy the show.

Cell Phones and other Mobile Devices
Please remember to turn off all cell phones and mobile devices during the performance. Even if your device is “silenced”, its lit screen can interfere with other patrons’ enjoyment of the show and can distract the actors.

Talking
Please refrain from talking during the performance. If you need to have a conversation during a show, please exit the theatre so the other patrons can enjoy the show.

Arriving Late/Returning to Your Seat
To be considerate to our actors and other audience members, patrons arriving at the theatre after the show starts will be seated at the discretion of the KYMTC. It is recommended that patrons be seated ten minutes prior to the show starting.

Patrons returning to their seats after the show starts (e.g. after using the washroom) may be reseated at the discretion of KYMTC.

School Shows- Guidelines for Teachers and Behaviour Expectations for Students
KYMTC performs special School Show matinees for local elementary and secondary school students (including home schooled children). These shows usually take place right before opening weekend and give students the opportunity to watch a youth musical theatre production- performed by a cast of youth aged 12-19 from Kemptville and surrounding communities.

KYMTC has an obligation to provide a safe and supportive space to everyone- including cast members, crew members, and all audience members (in this case: students, teachers, and parent volunteers). In order to ensure that everyone can enjoy the School Shows, KYMTC has developed guidelines and expectations for teachers and students. Cast and Crew COVID POLICY and guidelines

The Kemptville Youth Musical Theatre Company (KYMTC) considers the health and safety of our cast and crew as the highest priority. In addition, we also want to ensure that we can properly prepare and stage a great Main Show that continues the KYMTC tradition of presenting high quality, community-based youth musical theatre to all our supporters in North Grenville and Eastern Ontario.

KYMTC will continue to follow the COVID guidelines and direction provided by the Leeds, Grenville, and Lanark District Health Unit and any direction from the Urbandale Arts Centre (for Tech Runs and performances). Although masking is no longer a requirement as of June 2022, KYMTC will continue to take precautions.

The following guidelines apply to all KYMTC cast, crew, volunteers, members of the production team, or anyone else attending a KYMTC audition, rehearsal, tech run, or performance:

General COVID Guidelines
• You are required to stay home if you are sick, even if your symptoms are mild, and to inform the KYMTC Producer;
• If you have symptoms, please take a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) if possible, or a PCR test if eligible;
• If you test positive:

      • Please inform the KYMTC Producer;
      • Do not attend any KYMTC activities for the first 5 days after testing positive;
      • After the first 5 days, you may attend KYMTC activities while wearing a mask for the 5 days that follow;

• Practice proper etiquette (e.g. coughing into your elbow), wash your hands and/or use hand sanitizer frequently;
• When possible (see additional guidelines, below) you may choose to wear a mask for KYMTC activities. KYMTC respects the choices of people who continue to wear a mask; and,
• Where and when possible, please allow for physical distancing.

Auditions
• In order to properly assess young people auditioning for roles, KYMTC requires that, once the audition starts, the young person does not wear a mask. The mask can be worn as soon as the monologue and singing components of the audition are complete.

Call Backs and Rehearsals
• When delivering dialogue or singing, cast members may need to remove their masks periodically (at the discretion of the Director and/or Musical Director).

Tech Runs and Performances
• When waiting in the wings and when on stage, cast members cannot wear a mask.

Production Team and Crew Member Guidelines
• Members of the production team and crew members (e.g. Back Stage, Lighting Crew, etc.) may wear a mask at all times during all KYMTC activities.

Reviewing and Revising COVID Guidelines
KYMTC will monitor communications from the Health Unit and may revise these guidelines, as required.

VOLUNTEER POLICY

KYMTC wants everyone to have a great experience during this production. To help provide guidance on what is expected of everyone involved in the show, all cast members and volunteers are expected to read, understand, and respect the KYMTC Volunteer Code of Conduct.

CAST POLICY

Dress Code
Each cast member is required to bring their own “blacks” (i.e. clothing to be worn underneath a costume). Cast members playing a female character require a thin-strapped black tank top (those participating in the Summer Camp may wear a plain black t-shirt), black legging/yoga pants, and black shoes (preferably dance shoes). Cast members playing a male character require a thin-weight black t-shirt, black dress pants, and black shoes (preferably dance shoes).

Costumes, Properties and Scripts
Usually KYMTC provides all costumes, but cast members may need to supply some basic items such as t-shirts, socks, or dark coloured shoes. Please be aware that some of KYMTC’s costumes and props are borrowed or rented from individuals or other organizations and they need to be treated respectfully and be returned undamaged. Cast members are responsible for the care of their costumes and props.

Cast members will be required to make a $25 cash deposit for costumes, props, and scripts. The deposit is returned at the end of the production when all items are returned in good order, and only once cast members have attended the Move Out.
